PostSubject: Game crashing do I delete the contents of the cache file?   7/10/2014, 16:53

Hi Guys;

I'm sorry sorry for being mia.  Life gets busy sometimes, you know what I mean?

Anyway I had a couple of hours last night and finally decided to open my game but what happened?  It crashed after about 30 minutes of game play.

But it's so fast to reload so I reopened it right away.  And it crashed this time after about 10 minutes of play.

Then I gave up and went to bed lol!

So; I  took out a couple of cc hairs but do you think I should delete the two files that are in the cache folder that is inside the sims 4 folder?

One is called filecache and it looks like a note pad document and the other is called "temporary.307836290.js.cache"

Also there is a file, which is not in the cache folder but it is inside the sims 4 folder and it's called 'last crash'  I don't understand that one (it just looks like random numbers and stuff) but can I delete that file too?

Thanks for your help guys.

I hope you're all doing well.

I have so much errands and running around to do, it's not even funny

My game crashed twice yesterday also, if the game isn’t responding or is crashing to desktop then you need to make sure you have the latest graphics drivers for your graphics card.

NVIDIA GeForce 340.52 Driver
AMD Catalyst 14.7RC3

Cache Files can be deleted, open your Documents folder (or a folder where your The Sims 4 Save Game folder is), Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. There’ you’ll find a folder called ”cache” and a file named localthumbcache.

you can delete the localthumbcache file!
then open up the cache folder, delete everything that’s inside of it BUT NOT the FileCache.cfg file!

For more info you can go HERE

hope this helps kissy kissy

Thanks for posting and replying Ina! I only had my game crash once and that was right after it was released and the culprit was CC. I removed two items I had downloaded and haven't put them back in since and haven't had any crashing issues. ***knocks on wood*** but I was wondering which cache files would be safe to clean out.

Thanks so much InaMac and MJ. I deleted those cache files and I took out the cc hair that I had just downloaded and last night I played with no crashes.

I didn't play for long but still...I didn't have any crashes.

Thanks for your help.

You guys are the best.
