So what happened? I was doing the house challenge and automatically saved the game, not too bad, at the moment right? WRONG....

I saved my game without changing the name of my cas world, which in turn over wrote my OLD CAS world, where I have my WIP sim and all the mag staff sims, and my tamara baby sims. Now I cant find them. unhappy unhappy

I know there is a way of getting old saves and over riding the newer save but I cant remember how to do it, any help anyone??

You should be able to restore your old backup save without too much trouble since nothing is corrupt!
Whether or not it'll have all your lost things in it we can't guarantee, it depends on when the game made the backup!
I'm presuming you're patched up to date, so here goes:

- Go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves

- You'll have two folders with each save name you've created. For you it'll be your CAS save files. Find these two.
(If your save file was just called 'CAS', you'll have CAS.sims3 and CAS.sims3.backup)

- Right click the one without the .backup on the end. Rename it to 'CAS.sims3.old' (or whatever the name was - just add '.old' to the end of the file name)

- Now right click the file with the .backup ending. Rename this to 'CAS.sims3' (just like the original file - take off the '.backup')

Once you've done that it should load the backup as if it were the current save and ignore the old one. Load up and see where your backup has taken you. I really hope everything's there!
(Once you've confirmed it's worked feel free to get rid of the '.old' file.)

I hope this makes sense. PLEASE tell me if it doesn't, I'm terrible for rushing these things.
Fingers crossed for you!

YAAAAAAY! wootwoot

I'm so glad it worked - I had a save bork beyond repair when I first came back and ended up losing everything! It's a horrible feeling when you realise what's happened.

And breathe!
