Don't panic!! We'll figure this out luv u
I'm sure it's nothing that can't be fixed!

Ok, few questions, some might seem silly but just go along with it haha

If I remember rightly you got a new computer not too long ago? I doubt your computer is the problem, but throw some specs at me anyway. I don't need everything - processor, RAM and graphics will be enough :)

-When did this start happening? Was it straight after a patch update or straight after you installed something?
-You haven't had any error messages or crashes?
-Which loading screen does it get to before freezing? The first one or the one after you pick your town?
-I know you said you removed the Mods folder and some custom content, but what happens when you check the 'run without custom content' box in the installed items tab of the game launcher as well?

Some possible solutions:

- Have you tried just re-starting your computer? Half the time if mine screws up a re-start does the trick. I hardly ever shut down my computer so it needs a reboot every so often!
- Delete your cache files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3
Any of the following files can be deleted:
CasPartCache.package
compositorCache.package
scriptCache.package
simCompositorCache.package
socialCache.package
and also clear out anthing in your DCBackup folder.
- Check your Saves folder - do any of your saves have ".bad" on the end of their name? If so, those are corrupt and need to be replaced with the corresponding back up folder by deleting the 'bad' one and re-naming the backup so it has the same name as the original did.

There's still more to try but I'll leave it there so you don't have to type for 700 years when you reply haha.

Your Sims 3 (my documents folder) can become bloated and corrupted. Have you tried, moving it to your desktop and restarting your game. The Sims 3 will regenerate that folder once you relaunch the game. Then once you have confirmed your game loads and you can get into any world without issue, close it out, move over your folders (library, dccache, dcbackup, installed worlds, mods, collections (if you use them), downloads, savedsims, saves, Custom music (if you use it). Then restart the game again. If you are able to get into the game and a world with no issues it is a bloated or corrupted Sims 3 folder. You can also put back your folders a few at a time (just in case it might be something in one of them causing the issue).

Another thing that can get corrupted is your Device Config and Options files. I had an issue where my game would not load up and I removed everything I could think of, turned out it was my Options file. It is very easy for those files (in the Sims 3 my documents folder) to get corrupted or bloated. Everything in the Sims 3 folders (my documents) can be deleted (just make sure you have everything backed up ^_^).

I have found, that the Sims 3 Folder corruption or bloating has been the culprit for many of my game issues, so might give moving it to your desktop a try and let the game make a new one.

Sometimes the bloating takes places in your Sims3packs. So if the issue persist, try moving your dccache, dcbackup, and installed worlds to your desktop. Then reinstall the Sims 3 packs. After each set try going into game and seeing if it will load. I usually reinstall those after letting my sims 3 my documents folder be regenerated, just so it can be cleaned out. Best to do it in sections, Patterns, Worlds, Objects, Pets, Cas and check after each. You can tell if your sims3packs are experiencing bloating, by checking your dccache. If you have .tmp files, you have to much crap. ^_^ (Says the girl with 12 .tmp files. I am not giving up my crap EA, it is not happening).

Haha I have like 10 .tmp files... aaaand they're going nowhere.
ErrorTrap can deal with all the important in-game, file-related crap it might cause so my save files don't die. That'll do for me, anything else is fixable/not worth saving if it dies. No way am I getting rid of stuff! Suspect

Phew! Thanks a lot girls! I could find the problem, it was a bad CC that for some reason managed to end up in the DCbackup folder (yeah, it might ended up there because of my cluelessness being in action Lol twins ) so it satyed there even though I took out the Mods folder. Now I found it when I was deleting everything there as isla suggested, cuz it was the only package that wasn't named with a bunch of numbers and letters. I moved it to the Mods folder but the game still didn't load, so I just took it out and now the game works perfectly! cuddle Thanks! heart spin

By the way, what exactly are the .tmp files that you girls talking about? Cuz I checked and I have 7 .tmp files Lol xD is that bad?

I am glad to hear your game is better.

The .tmp files are new and came with Island Paradise. EA fixed several little issues that were occurring with CC you may have noticed previously such as your Sims3packs would not all say they were installed even though they were. Well fixing that caused this bloating issue where .tmp files will appear in your dccache folder. It does not happen with everyone only those of us that have a lot of CC. Yay, us. They can be removed, but as long as you have lots of cc, they will continue to be created over and over again if you use the launcher and certain other things to start your game. ^_^ The only way to get rid of them, is to downgrade your cc to as little as you can, but it is not necessary. They do not hurt anything. You might notice a little sluggishness in cas or objects or when using your launcher, most people do anyways because of all the loading it has to do, but they do not seem to be a problem for the majority of people that have them.

Supposedly if you bypass the launcher and do not use it they will not be created. I use 3 booter to launch my game and they are still created. So I think it depends on what the person has going on cc wise and how they are relaunching their game (I use 3 booter because I play in windows mode, and if I do not use it my fps is up over 100 and the Sims 3 fps should always be 30). Supposedly EA is working on it, but this came about because of a fix, so who knows what we will get next. ^_^

Basically the .tmp files are duplicates of the files already in the dccache folder. The bloating comes because if you have 7 gb of cc in sims3packs (like I do), your game is now loading 14 gb instead of the 7 you have because of the duplicates. They are just going to be regenerated (unless you are lucky to find one of the methods that allows you to start the game without them being created). It is just better to leave them there (unless you have one of those methods), because while they are being created, they are just going to slow down your loading times for the various sections of the game.

More information on temp files.

I am SO happy your game is working now!
I hate it when things like this happen. You end up going on a wild goose chase trying to find whatever is causing it!

.tmp files won't really do any harm, they're just annoying! I don't pay any attention to mine, I just cope with my 20 second CAS lag when loading clothes or accessories haha!
