I learned this tip today at one of the threads on the officials. Some of you may have heard of this free program before, but it's new to me. It's called GameBooster and it essentially shuts down all unnecessary programs in the background so you can run a game faster. When you exit out of your game, it returns your system to the way it was. I was worried this would harm my computer or it would shut down programs I don't want, but that hasn't happened. When you click the configure program during setup it shows you the files and you can choose to not have them shut down if you want. I just went with the ones it selected.

I've been trying this program and I'm impressed so far. My game is running smoother and I especially noticed it was faster in CAS. I have a mega TON of cc and it usually takes forever to load stuff in CAS. I have one of those all-in-one computers with an integrated chip that shouldn't even be able to run the sims (someone said), so this is great for me. Here's the link if you want to try it. (Btw, there's a link next to the Download button to a program that says it scans your PC for Windows errors, but I noticed it also installs some toolbars, so I didn't install it. I only installed GameBooster.)

Game booster is awesome! I can definitely vouch for it, although I know it doesn't make a huge difference on some machines.

For me, it doesn't make a noticeable difference while playing Sims 3, but I think it does when I play more demanding games like Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim.

Either way, definitely worth a try!! mrprpl

I noticed some difference while in CAS. I don't play any other games on my pc to try them out. OH MY GOSH! My hubby played Fall out Las Vegas. I LOVED that big ole mutant that helped on some of his missions, thank god we don't have to deal with those death claws! Oooo, they are mean as snot! LOL!

Hahaha. There have been times when I would nearly jump off the couch! And I wasn't even playing! LOL! He also played Fallout 3 + the expansion packs and all of N.V. + expansions. He played his on the Xbox 360. Now he's onto Dishonored. That one isn't so exciting. The only other games I've played outside of the sims off pc, is Need for Speed, but I had to quit playing that because whenever I would get into a police chase, I would literally hold my breath! And I played Spyro the dragon, but he just mad me mad. I love Just Dance.

Absolutely Fran! I think it will also help with your pc/laptop from overheating too, as the cpu won't be working as hard. It does shut background programs down, but resumes them upon exiting. (You need to turn Game booster off) It will also defrag your game files for you too! It's a neat little tool to have.
