Let's say I want to remove a package file....for example...and eyeshadow,lipstick.....I think I would need to

1: Delete it from my mods folder

2: Clear Caches ( which I do before opening my game)

Now....is there a way to clear it from the DCBackup without having to export a Sim wearing the file?

I have done this before by exporting a sim wearing the item I want to delete....then checking it with custard....get the code....enter the code in my search box on my computer and then it takes me to the DCBackup and I can delete it....so my game will not break.

I really don't want to clear my entire DCBackup Folder.

I hope that made sense doh

@ Buttons. as far as i know. if you delete the item from your Mods - Package folder and then if you have the code for that item then search for it then delete it like that to. i think that is the only way i know of. but i'm sure isla can tell you if there is a different way. :) luv u luv u

I imagine that you could open the original package with S3PE and get the code that way. Then find it in your DCBackup. Although, isn't that a folder that you don't even need to keep?

The DCBackup file isn't important enough to worry about deleting package files from it.
You could clear out the entire thing and the game would just regenerate whatever it used.

The DCCache folder is where the game stores info about which packages it has accessed and files in there must NOT be deleted, that's when things start getting screwed up haha!
The DCBackup is just a backup of this info and it's one of the folders you can clear out to help improve game performance, although how much difference it makes is debated and varies for each person :)

Those folders are not something you need to worry about when you're deleting package files. You don't even really have to worry about clearing the cache files - I only ever bother with that when I'm updating mods or deleting lots of package files at the same time :)

more love
